Basic Pizza Dough

PIZZADOUGH

Pizza dough is pretty simple to make. The sugar activates the yeast but you could substitute honey for the sugar. It’s better to start out with the dough a little sticky and add additional flour as needed then to start out with it too dry. Don’t over knead the dough because that will also make it dry.

  7. Remove the dough and knead by hand for a few minutes until it's smooth. Spray a bowl with non-stick spray and add the dough. Spray the top of the dough with some non-stick spray and the cover lightly with plastic wrap.

  8. Let the dough sit out for an hour or two until it at least doubles in size. Either use the dough or add it to a ziplock bag and refrigerate. To freeze the dough, add the dough to a ziplock bag before it raises. When you're ready to use it, put it in the refrigerator overnight to defrost (or out on the counter for a few hours) and then when it's defrosted, follow the step above to let the dough rise.
